Wat-Po is popularly known as the Temple
of The Reclining Budda, as well as being Thailand's forst open university
under the King's patronage. Many fields of knowledge and technology
for those days were gathered here. There are various field of knowledge
such as history, religion, literature, arts, culture, medical science,
physical therapy and pharmacy. Today, the well known Wat Po's Thai
Traditional Medical and Massage School is also located here. One reason
of its fame is the old and famous Thai Traditional Massage School
to which many Thais and foriegners go for taking courses and treatment
Wat Po was large innovated in 1836 during the reign of King Pama 3.
By a royal decree, inscription relating to arts and sciences such
as medical sciences and pharmacology. There are 60 pictures of Traditional
Thai Massage which include lines and point on humad body, 80 statues
of Yoga each of which represents different self-massaging and stretching
positions with different curative effects, and some of 1,100 formulas
of recognized herbal medicines are illustrated. All those who ever
want to acquire good knowledge and self health care can come in at
his ease. |
